Viral face changing ZAO Chinese App, questions raised about privacy
“ZAO” App is A Trap ?

Shanghai: The face-changing app 'ZAO' launched in China is becoming increasingly viral. It was uploaded last Friday on China's IOS (Operating System) App Store. Lakhs of people have downloaded it within three days. Through this app, users can change the face of actor or player etc. from their own face in a video. Many people have also called it a threat to the privacy of the user.

Momo Inc., which created the app, said in a post on China's micro-blogging site Beebo that Go's server had almost crashed due to increased traffic on the Internet. According to App Annie, which monitors app downloads worldwide, as of September 1, ZAO is the most frequently downloaded app for free from China's app store.

Videos of Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio are also included

To download ZAO, the user has to sign up with their phone number. Apart from this, they also have to upload a picture taken from their smartphone. He can then share the new video with his friend by changing the face of the celebrity from his own face in the video included in the app. Along with celebrities from China, videos of Hollywood stars like Leonardo DiCaprio have also been included in this app.

As soon as the app went viral, some users have also complained about its privacy rules. Actually, along with uploading the photo to the app, the user allows ZAO to use that picture for marketing. However, ZAO has spoken of resolving this problem soon. In the post on Weibo, Jao said, 'We understand the concern being raised about privacy abuses. Soon these problems will be overcomed'.
