Yogi Adityanath: BJP’s First CM in UP Who Completed 3 years

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has created a new history in the Bharatiya Janata Party by completing three years in this state. So far, no CM has remained consistent from BJP for three years in UP, but now this record has been recorded in the name of Yogi Adityanath. Before Yogi, strong leaders like BJP's Kalyan Singh, Rajnath Singh and Ram Prakash Gupta have been the CMs of UP.

When the BJP returned to power in Uttar Pradesh three years ago after 14 years of political exile, there was only one question in everyone's mind that which leader would be the chief minister. Names of Keshav Maurya to Dinesh Sharma and Mahesh Sharma were being discussed, but Yogi Adityanath turned his attention on the wishes of all these leaders. Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of the state on 19 March 2017 and has been touching political heights.

There have been five Chief Ministers at various times in BJP governments in Uttar Pradesh. Kalyan Singh has been chief minister twice, Ram Prakash Gupta and Rajnath Singh have been chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh once. At the same time, the command of power is in the hands of the yogi.

For the first time in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP was formed in 1991 and Kalyan Singh was made the Chief Minister. Kalyan Singh sacrificed his power for Ayodhya. Kalyan Singh's government was dismissed on 6 December 1992 due to the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya. The result was that he could remain in the chief minister's post for 1 year 165 days only. Although the Kalyan Singh's government would not have been sacked, it would naturally have completed its term, because the government was formed with an absolute majority.

The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh was formed for the second time in September 1997 and Kalyan Singh was chosen as the chief minister. Kalyan Singh held the post of CM for 2 years 52 days this time, but due to a deteriorating relationship with Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he had to lose his charge. After this, BJP made Ram Prakash Gupta as the Chief Minister on 12 November 1999, which lasted till 28 October 2000. In this way Ram Prakash Gupta remained CM for only 351 days.

After Ram Prakash Gupta, Rajnath Singh became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 2000 from the BJP. Rajnath Singh held the post of CM for 1 year and 131 days only and if elections were held in 2002, BJP could not return to power. After 15 years, in 2017, BJP got a huge majority in UP and crowned Yogi Adityanath with Chief Minister's post and became the first CM of BJP to complete his three-year term. Looking at the way Yogi is working, it seems that he will become CM again after completing his five-year term in the province. However, since 2007, whoever has been sitting on the throne of power in the state is completing the chief minister period for whole five years.
