The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday took a production warrant against Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor from a special CBI court. In this, the agency has demanded to be taken into custody in a registered case against Rana Kapoor. On March 7, the CBI registered a case against Rana Kapoor, promoters of DHFL – Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan, DOIT Urban Ventures Pvt Ltd, Kapoor's daughters – Radha, Rakhi, Roshni and Kapoor's wife Bindu. Production warrant was sought after being presented in PMLA court, Rana Kapoor's ED custody period ended on Friday. Rana Kapoor was arrested on 8 March.

The CBI officer of Delhi Unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau will present Rana Kapoor in CBI court on Saturday and demand his custody for further investigation.The agency has registered this case regarding the alleged suspicious transactions of Rana Kapoor from DHFL. Among these, loans were given to DHFL in which Yes Bank bought debentures worth Rs 3700 crores in 2018 and DHFL gave loans of Rs 600 crores to Kapoor's daughters company DOIT Urban Ventures Pvt Ltd.

The CBI officials are investigating the case registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. It is alleged that the depositors of Yes Bank were cheated and their money was used for their illegal profit. The CBI officials suspect that several deficiencies in the lending to DHFL and its related firms were ignored.

ED officials have pointed out that DOIT Ventures Pvt Ltd overstated assets worth Rs 40 crore to take loan from DHFL by Rs 735 crore. The CBI is also investigating a loan of Rs 750 crore from Yes Bank to the alleged firm of DHFL linked to the Bandra Reclamation Redressal Development Project from Kapoor. In this, DHFL allegedly got most part of the loan and no investment was made in the redevelopment project.

The CBI has also registered a case against Kapoor for a suspicious transaction in the purchase of a bungalow at Delhi's Amrita Shergill Marg. It is alleged that this bungalow was taken as a bribe from a company named Avanta Reality. This company is a debtor of Yes Bank. This property worth Rs 500 crore was acquired by Bliss Abode Pvt Ltd, the company of Bana Kapoor, wife of Rana. Bliss Abode Pvt. ltd. had secured a loan of 375 crores from India Bulls Housing. The agency suspects that Kapoor received this property in a bribe and manipulated about Rs 300 crore.
