Xiaomi Redmi 8A is a major upgrade to the old variant i.e. Redmi 7A. There’s a lot new in this smartphone. Know more about this smartphone.
Xiaomi Redmi 8A Review: All-rounder Smartphone of this Segment

Xiaomi's Redmi 8A smartphone has been launched in India. Its price is 6499 rupees. After a long time, at this price, there is such a smartphone market that looks premium. Especially its back panel. I have used the red variant of this smartphone. This smartphone also has some extras – wireless FM radio, p2i nano coating and dedicated micro SD card slot.

After using some of the Redmi 8A, we are giving you the most reliable review of this smartphone.

Design and Build Quality

You may like the texture of the back panel of Xiaomi Redmi 8A. This color variant is also good. It looks dark on the top and fed on the bottom. The back panel is clean, there is a camera in the center at the top and LED flash is given below it. Below this is the branding of Redmi. There is a straight line written by Designed by Xiaomi. I have recently seen such a straight line in Oppo Reno 2, it is the same.

The build quality of the phone is solid and grip is very good to hold. It would be better to use it without cover. Due to the back panel texture, the phone will not fall by hand. The phone is compact, you will be able to use it easily with one hand.

The bottom of the phone has a USB Type C port, a speaker grill, and a headphone jack. This is probably the first smartphone in this price in the Indian market in which USB Type C port has been given. The right side of the phone has volume rocker keys and home button. This smartphone does not have a fingerprint scanner, so you have to depend on face unlock or PIN.

Water drop style notch has been given in the front of the phone. There is a bezel-less screen, but below is marked where Redmi is written. There are thin bezels on the side.

Display

Redmi 8A is good in terms of display segment. It has a 6.22 inch HD display with a resolution of 720 * 1520. The display is bright and colorful. Most of the time I have used this smartphone in dark mode, even though it is a budget smartphone and does not have an AMOLED panel, but still the dark mode works well on it. Its display in outdoor and direct sunlight slightly disappoints. An 8-megapixel front camera is provided on the top of the screen. The specialty of the display is also that you have no problem in the viewing angle.

Performance
Qualcomm Snapdrgaon 439 processor has been given in Redmi 8A. Along with this is Adreno 505. There are two variants of this smartphone – 32GB memory with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage with 3GB RAM. Dedicated slot has also been provided for Micro SD. This smartphone is for average use, because its processor and its price does not allow you to use heavy.

Everything from internet browsing, social media, videos, songs, and other things can be easily done on it. But this phone is not for gaming. I tried some games, the phone heats up. Multiple apps can be used simultaneously in this smartphone and there is no problem in learning from one app to another. But if you are going to use dozens of apps simultaneously, then this phone is not for you. Because in this way you will feel lag in this phone.

Redmi 8A has Android 9 Pie based MIUI 10. Phone logs are pre-loaded apps which can also be called bloatware. These apps include apps like Amazon, Facebook, Opera Mini, Daily Hunt and Gaana. Apart from this, there are apps of Xiaomi in it. The special thing is that without connecting any headphones, you can listen to FM in it which is a good thing.

This phone is also good for watching videos. You do not need to use light apps for social media, you can use full version social media apps. Overall, the performance of this smartphone is above the average in terms of segment.

Camera

Redmi 8A has a 12 megapixel (Artificial Intelligence based) single rear camera, aperture is f / 1.8. The company has used the Sony IMX 363 sensor in it. Some features related to AI are also given. For selfie, it has an 8-megapixel front camera, which is in the Tier Drop Notch. Its aperture is f / 2.0.

The camera of Redmi 8A is impressive, especially in this segment, no smartphone with such a camera has been seen for some time. Although two cameras have been found to be seen, but its single camera is also amazing. Basic photography is very good. Lighting is even better. However, you will see a lot of grains in photos clicked in low light.

Looking at the price, its portrait mode is also good. The camera is the same, but the portrait mode is software based and this mode is averaged. Some good shots in the outdoor can be taken with this smartphone. Photos are a bit dull in the indoor. But overall, our experience with photography has been good.

Even in the matter of video, this phone will not disappoint you in this case. This phone can record 1080p from 30fps.

Battery

The battery is quite powerful and lasts long. For two days, I have run it in mixed use by single charging. This smartphone has a 5000mAh battery. As we said earlier, you get USB Type C connectivity in it. Support of 18W fast charging has also been provided, the phone charges faster than other smartphones in this segment. By recording social media, music, email and some photos, videos, if you use it throughout the day, then you will be able to play it comfortably for 1.5 days.

Know why you should buy this Smartphone

If your budget is 6,500 rupees and you do not mind having a fingerprint scanner then you can definitely buy this smartphone. Redmi 8A's Sunset Red is my personal favorite, but you have three color options – Midnight Blue, Sunset Red and Midnight Black. You can choose any of them.
