WTC Final – Day 2: India 69/2 at Lunch-Break; Kohli, Pujara at Crease

The final of the World Test Championship (WTC) between India and New Zealand is being played in Southampton. After the first day was washed out by rain, the toss took place on the second day. The New Zealand team won the toss and decided to bowl first. In reply, Team India has scored 69 runs for the loss of 2 wickets till lunch break. At present, Indian captain Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara are at the crease.

Team India's second wicket fell on the score of 63. Opener Shubman Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs. He was caught by wicketkeeper BJ Watling off Neil Wagner's ball. Earlier, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 34 runs by Kyle Jameson. Tim Southee took his brilliant catch. Rohit made an opening partnership of 62 runs with Gill. He played the first Test in England in 2014 against England in Southampton.

Team India paid tribute to Milkha Singh:

Team India's openers Rohit and Shubman gave a great start to the team and scored 41 runs in 14 overs. During this, New Zealand tried 4 fast bowlers Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Kyle Jameson and Colin de Grandhomme. Team India was playing a match wearing a black band to pay tribute to Milkha Singh. Legendary sprinter Milkha Singh died on Saturday at the age of 91 due to COVID-19.

Virat Kohli has become the first Indian to play the maximum number of 61 Tests as a captain. In this case, he has broken the record of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who led the team in 60 Tests. At number 3 is Sourav Ganguly, who captained the team in 49 Tests.
