The world's number one squash player, Raneem El Welily, announced her retirement from the game on Thursday. She is the first Arab woman to reach the number one position in any sport. The 31-year-old Egyptian player achieved the top ranking for the first time in 2015. She won the world championship two years later. She said, 'Squash has been my life for the last 25 years, but now the time has come to say goodbye.'

Indian Squash Rackets Federation advised players not to practice at the moment:

The number of coronavirus infections is still increasing in India. Considering the severity of the epidemic, the Indian Squash Rackets Federation has advised the players not to practice at the moment. According to the federation, in view of the infection of coronavirus epidemic in metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, the players will not be able to start the practice before September, the tournament is far away.

Sports events can be started from August without spectators: Kiren Rijiju

On the other hand, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that sports tournaments can be started from August without spectators, but Squash Federation general secretary Cyrus Poncha said he does not think squash will resume in India before September.

He further said, 'We have to give six to seven weeks to the players for preparation. Only then they can play any tournament. Three months ago it seemed that we would be able to resume training in July, but the situation has become worse. I hope to start the game in August or September.

The death toll from Corona has reached a total of 15301 in India while 4,90,407 people have been infected with this virus. The Government of India has now announced unlock phase-1 across the country after more than three months of lockdown. People have been advised to be cautious and follow the rules.
