Salim Bavaria, the main accused of gang-rape, died on Sunday in a government hospital in Bulandshahr. Salim had kidney disease for a long time. In the gang rape case, the CBI had filed a chargesheet against him along with two others, three years ago.

Bavaria was lodged in the district jail of Bulandshahr. According to the police, he was suffering from kidney disease and was kept under observation. Significantly, on July 29 and July 30, 2016, a train was stopped by a dozen robbers on the Delhi-Kanpur highway. After this, the robbers carried out rape with the 35 year old women and her teenage daughter in the car.

There was a stir in the administration after this incident. It was also condemned all-round. In this case, about half a dozen policemen, including SSP, CO CT were suspended. The name of the Bavaria gang came up in connection with this case. It was later handed over to the CBI. The CBI then filed a charge sheet against the three accused, Salim Bavaria, Zubair and Sajid. Zubair and Sajid are still lodged in Bulandshahr jail.
