A LATAM Airlines (LTM.SN) airplane collided with a fire truck on the runway at Peru's Jorge Chavez International Airport. Two firefighters died in the accident.
However, no passenger or crew member died in the incident, the airline said. The ministry said 61 people were taken from Jorge Chavez International Airport to nearby clinics and hospitals. It was not clear if this was due to injury or as a precaution.
However, it is not clear what the fire engine was doing on the runway when the plane was taking off. In the video posted on social media, it is seen that the jet while running on the runway collides with the fire truck and then rapidly catches fire.
LATAM Airlines said that the crashed flight was LA2213 which covered the domestic Lima-Juliaca route. This is the second incident involving LATAM Airlines in less than a month.
