A massive explosion took place on Thursday afternoon in Bahawal Nagar of Punjab province, Pakistan's largest province. It is reported that 5 people were killed and 41 people were injured. The blast took place during the Ashura procession of Shias. A video after the incident has also surfaced. People are seen in blood in this. Attacks on Shia Muslims are not new in Pakistan. Police admitted late about the attack

A Shia leader from Pakistan confirmed the blast during the procession. Later news agency 'AP' also reported that there was a terrorist attack on a Shia procession in Bahawal Nagar and 30 people were reported injured in it. However, he did not give details of those who died.

The government of Punjab province also kept this incident a secret for several hours. Later, city police officer Mohammad Asad admitted that a Shia procession had been attacked. The Shia leader of the area Khawar Shafqat also confirmed the incident.

Tension in the area after the blast

Tension arose in Bahawal Nagar after this attack on Shias. Hundreds of people came out on the streets and the religious procession turned into a political rally. These people were demanding the death penalty for the attackers. Shafqat alleged that the police did not provide any security for the procession. Internet and mobile phone service have been suspended in the area.
