The mayor said that a speeding tanker overturned on the main road. Oil was leaking out of it. Many people arrived with small containers to collect oil from the tanker. Meanwhile, the tanker exploded. Cap Haitian Mayor Patrick Almore said he had seen 50 charred bodies. Prime Minister Ariel Henry said that most of the bodies had been heavily burnt, so their identity was also difficult at the moment.
Hospitals are also lacking to treat the injured in the accident in Haiti. Justinian Hospital said in a statement that we do not have much space and facilities to treat such a large number of burns.
