In another horrific incident of honour killing being reported, a man killed his younger sister in Dehiwad, Deola taluka, Maharashtra. The reason for the murder was that she secretly got married to someone whom he disliked and the accused tried to hide it as a case of suicide.
According to the information given by Deola police, 19-year-old Priyanka, daughter of Nimba Khandu Sonawane of Dahivad (Ghaari Mala, Taluka Deola), allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself when nobody in house on December 7.
However, police were suspicious of the incident and they started investigations. During the course of the probe, police got information about Priyanka's secret marriage. Priyanka had married Amol Aher from Kalwan, Nashik, six months ago.
Fearing loss to his 'reputation', Priyanka's brother Roshan Sonawane strangulated her with a saree. Then, he tried to pass off the incident as a case of suicide by hanging her with the same saree. However, Deoli police inspector Suresh Sapkale grew suspicious and questioned the accused. During the cross-questioning, he confessed to murdering his sister.
Accordingly, a murder case has been registered by Deola police and the suspect, Roshan, has been arrested.
Last month, another suspected Honour killing case happened in Bhokardan village, Jalna district, Maharashtra. In a suspected case of honour killing, a girl was murdered by her father after she was found to be pregnant. More shockingly, the accused was helped in murdering his daughter by her relatives. According to a report in ABP Majha, the entire village was stunned by the cold blooded murder of the youth.
Some days ago, the body of a 20-year-old girl was found at the Dhawada-Mehegaon road in Bhokardan taluka of Jalna district. As soon as police got to know about the incident, they immediately rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. After this, police immediately started investigating the murder case.
