Karan Oberoi Granted Bail by Bombay HC

The Bombay High Court on Friday allowed bail to TV entertainer Karan Oberoi in an assault case recorded against him in May this year.

Justice Revati Mohite-Dere allowed him the bail at a  surety of Rs 50000. Prior on May 17, the High Court had rejected Oberoi's plea.

Oberoi was captured on May 6 by the Mumbai Police and was sent to 14 days of legal care by an Andheri court. An FIR was enrolled against him under Sections 376 (assault) and 384 (blackmail) of the Indian Penal Code. As per the FIR, the on-screen character supposedly assaulted the lady on the guise of wedding her.

The victim's advocate, Ali Kaashif Khan, had affirmed that his customer's physical assent was taken on a bogus guarantee of marriage and henceforth it added up to assault, referring to an ongoing Supreme Court judgment.

The FIR likewise expressed that Oberoi not just assaulted the lady and shot the demonstration yet, in addition, requested the cash from the person in question and took steps to release the video in the event that she didn't pay in the entirety.
