High Level Anaemia Or Haemoglobin Increase The Risk Of Dementia And Alzheimer

Lower or higher amounts of hemoglobin increases the risk of dementia at an Increasing age. This has recently come up in a study published in the journal 'Neurology'. According to the study's author M Arfan Ikram, 'Dementia patients are expected to increase three-fold in the coming years. Its patients will be found more in these countries where anemia red is the most '.

This study included 12,305 elderly people aged 65 and above. Their hemoglobin was counted at the beginning. None of these already had dementia. 745 out of the elderly people found anemia-positive in study.

The health of these parties was monitored for 12 years. During this time, 1,520 participants suffered from dementia and 1,194 participants with Alzheimer's. Research findings found that among those who had anemia, 40 percent had dementia and 34 percent had Alzheimer's development, more than those who did not have anemia.

Similarly, those in the group who had high hemoglobin levels showed a 20% higher chance of having dementia than the elderly with normal hemoglobin.

The results associated with hemoglobin levels remained the same in conditions that included factors responsible for dementia such as smoking, alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels.

Researchers have emphasized that this study does not prohibit hemoglobin dynamia, but reflects the relationship between the two.
