This divorce took place in Dubai and is the most expensive divorce settlement in British history. A UK court has ordered the ruler of Dubai to pay $73 million i.e., Rs 5,525 crore to his wife and their children.

The High Court said that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will have to pay $33.33 million i.e., about Rs 2,522 crore to his ex-wife, Haya. The remaining amount will be given to his children – Al Jalila and Zayed. For Princess Haya and her children (as long as they are minors), $ 1.45 million i.e., about Rs 109 crore has been asked to be given in security. Princess Haya fled to Britain in 2019. She said that she was afraid of her husband. She had filed a petition in a UK court seeking protection for both her children. Now, the ruler of Dubai was ordered to pay 73 million dollars.
The court said the total amount the children would receive could be more or less than £29 million. It depends on various factors such as how long they live and whether they reconcile with their father. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, 72, is also the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates.
Judge Philip Moor of the London High Court said that Sheikh Rashid has been ordered to pay the price given the grave danger to the lives of Haya and her two children. The judge said that Haya is not asking for this amount for herself, but she will take care of her children with this money. Also, with this amount, she would like to compensate for the loss she has suffered due to the break-up of the marriage.

According to the judge's ruling, Princess Haya said during the case that she was under siege and the sheikh's monitoring was disturbing her.
