A 43-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman at Calangute beach on Tuesday.
A complaint was filed by the victim against the accused, after which the constable was arrested. It is further learned that the accused is posted at the CRPF's Recruit Training Centre in Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, a Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi said that a complaint was received from a woman, who is a native of Mumbai. The complainant has mentioned in her official statement that she was at the Calangute beach on Tuesday along with her husband and kids when the accused approached her and touched her inappropriately.
Her ordeal did not end there, the constable then abused her with vulgar and filthy words thereby outraging her modesty. After which, the survivor's husband questioned the CRPF constable but he began hitting him. During the scuffle, her husband sustained injuries.
However, the local police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and further investigation in the case is underway.
