1. Croatia joins the Euro

After eight years the Eurozone will have a new member with the inclusion of Croatia on January 1, facilitating the country to enjoy the advantages of the EU’s common currency.

2. Men’s Hockey World Cup

The 15th edition of the Men’s International Hockey Federation Hockey World Cup will be held in Rourkela and Bhubaneswar from January 13 to 29.

3. Under 19 Women’s Cricket World Cup

The very first ever ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup took place in January at South Africa.

4. Shah Rukh Khan returns to the big screen

Shah Rukh Khan came back to theatres from January with his big three releases: Pathaan in January, Jawan in June, and Dunki in December.

5. Lollapalooza India

Lollapalooza, the Global Music Festival, held in Mumbai on January 28 and 29 had brought over 40 artists like Imagine Dragons, AP Dhillon, The Strokes, and Cigarettes After Sex.

6. Comic Con

The 10th edition of Comic Con was scheduled on February 11 and 12 in Mumbai. It brought together comics, movies, gaming, anime, and more.

7. Assembly elections in India

Assembly elections were held in nine states, including Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Telangana.

8. Two brightest planets join forces

On the night of March 1, Venus and Jupiter made their closest path to each other, passing within half a degree.

9 International Olympic Committee Session

After 40 years, India hosted the International Olympic Committee Session in Mumbai in September.

10. King Charles’ Coronation

King Charles III’s coronation took place on May 6. He will succeed Queen Elizabeth II, who was Britain’s longest-reigning majesty.

11. Release of Barbie

The third directorial venture of Greta Gerwig Barbie was released in July. The movie had a massive star cast including Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

12. Manipur Violence.

On 3 May 2023 a violence in Manipur happened. It was an ethnic violence between tribal groups that erupted in the state of Manipur. Almost 73 people are killed

13. Fifa Women’s World Cup

The 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup took place in July-August and was hosted by New Zealand and Australia.

14. Israel-Hamas War

On October 7 2023 at around 6:30 a.m. Hamas announced the start of "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood", saying it had shot over 5,000 rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel in less than 25 minutes.

15. Basketball World Cup

The 2023 Fiba Basketball World Cup was the first to be hosted by numerous nations, Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia, from August 25 to September 10.

16. Asian Games

The Asian Games which was initially scheduled for September 2022 took place this year from September 23 to October 8 at Hangzhou in China.

17. Sydney Opera House turns 50

The Sydney Opera House in October completed its 50 years. To celebrate this a year-long birthday party started in September 2022. 

18. Disney turns 100

The well-known American media and entertainment empire, generally known as Disney, started in October 1923 and completed a century in 2023. 

19. 2023 Cricket World Cup

India hosted the 13th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup in October and November. This is the first time India has hosted it independently.

20. G2O Summit

The 18th conference of the Group of Twenty (G20), a discussion for international economic cooperation, took place in New Delhi. India’s G20 presidency started on December 1, 2022.

21. India Mobile Congress Event

IMC was one of the most successful and awaited events of 2023 for India. The event was scheduled on October 27, 2023 in Delhi. Prime Minister Modi started this three day event which focused on innovation, knowledge exchange, and networking for telecom and technology sectors.
