The death toll due to Hurricane Gloria on Spain's eastern and southern coast increased to 11 on Thursday. Rescuers are searching for four missing people. Civil security officers in the North Eastern Catalonia region said the number of casualties so far rose to 11, with the death of a 50-year-old man fishing in the coastal Ametla de Mar.

Earlier, the body of a person was found inside a vehicle in Kabasses and a house collapsed due to heavy rains in Alcoi, East Alicante area. A 75-year-old woman died in it. Apart from this, some people had died due to the storm since Sunday. The storm is causing strong winds, heavy rain and snowfall.

Officials say the death toll may increase as four people are still missing in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. However, now the storm has weakened. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez visited some areas badly hit by the storm on Thursday. Parts of South France were also affected by Hurricane Gloria. Here 1,500 people had to be evacuated from the Pyrenees-Orientals region.
