This time the theme

This year's theme is especially based on the protection of the health and rights of women and girls worldwide during the time of the Corona epidemic. Working women often work in an unsafe environment.

In the labour market too, women's safety measures are often not given due consideration. Even during the Corona epidemic, women have been greatly affected by their economic effects. Around 60 per cent of women worldwide informally contribute to the economy through their labour, so there is a greater risk of further poverty due to the economic impact on them.

 Fastest growing population country

Currently, the country with the fastest-growing population growth in Nigeria, which is expected to overtake the US by 2050 and reach the third position. There is a steady increase in the number of elderly people around the world. In the year 1950, there was a greater number of youth than the elderly.

With the corona on lockdown in early March-April, various agencies including UNICEF anticipated that the world birth rate would rise sharply and impact the population next year.

According to a survey by the London School of Economics, the Corona period will cause a decline in population rather than a boom. Speaking of the European countries Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Britain, 50 to 60 per cent of all youth aged 18-34 have postponed plans to pursue a family for a year.

However, with the rising havoc of Corona in May-June and July, it is now expected to reduce birth rates by 30 to 50 per cent in the US, Europe and all Asian countries.

Five million fewer children will be born in America

Estimates of a fall in birth rate by 15% during the disaster-economic crisis.

UNICEF estimated there were 40 million children in the US in January.

Some 32-33 lakh children will be born in June, according to the Brookings Institute's assessment.

These countries also fall

Signs of the population growth rate reaching zero in Australia (March to May).

Turkey is showing signs of a decline in birth rates even in Europe, with the highest growth rate.

Sterilization, contraceptive medicine-equipment, stopped in hospitals after birth rate drops in Iran.

Singapore government says a continuous decrease in birth rate but no plans to increase the population

Reverse trends in the Philippines

2 lakh 14 thousand more children will be born in 2021, a total of 19 lakh children

The highest birth rate in 20 years in the Philippines, abortion is banned in the country

The effect will also be seen in India

UNICEF has estimated the highest number of births in India between March and December at 20 million and China at 13 million, although this is expected to reduce under the changed circumstances.

Fertility rates have already come down significantly in 13 states of India. Anindit Roy Choudhary, director of the Save the Children's Program and Policy Impact, said that the impact of Covid-19 in India's urban and rural environment can be different on birth rates.

If we take malnutrition, vaccination, education and health, then Kovid has had the greatest impact on children, so what steps will be taken to increase or not to raise young families, it will be known in the coming time.

Even before such an effect

Birth rate decreased during the Spanish flu

During the Spanish flu of 1918–19, not only 100 million people died in the world, but also the possibility of children falling prey to the disease, the birth rate decreased by 15%.

The impact of the economic slowdown

The birth rate fell by 20 per cent even during the terrible economic recession of 1930

Effects observed in US and European countries even during the 2008 recession

Therefore, families do not want to increase now in the Corona period, the family does not want to give birth to the child and trouble them. Due to unemployment-tightness, the plan to have a young couple child in cities postponed

Working youths do not have the time to raise children, daycare homes, crèches etc. closed, couples from all countries do not want children until Corona gets vaccinated. During the pregnancy, there is also the fear of not getting proper facilities of the hospital or doctors.

New generation giving first priority to employment, career, improving economic condition
