Work from Home Rule for IT, BPO Companies Extended till December 31: Government

In view of the ever-increasing cases, the Indian government has extended the period of work from home rule for IT and BPO companies.

Coronavirus epidemic continues wreaking havoc in India. In view of the ever-increasing cases, the Indian government has extended the period of work from home rule for IT and BPO companies. This period has been extended by five months. Now, these instructions are till 31 December. The government has announced this on Tuesday. Earlier, the period of these instructions was ending on 31 July.

Department of Telecommunications gave this information via Tweet:

In a tweet, the Department of Telecommunications said, " DoT has further extended the relaxations in the Terms and Conditions for Other Service Providers (OSPs) upto 31st December 2020 to facilitate work from home in view of the on going concern due to COVID-19."

Significantly, in the month of March, the Department of Telecommunications had relaxed some rules for other service providers in the wake of the Coronavirus epidemic to provide their employees with the services to work from home. Thereafter, the period of this exemption was extended to 31 July.

Coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in India:

On the other hand, the cases of coronavirus are increasing rapidly in India. As of Wednesday morning, July 22, there were a total of 11,94,105 cases of coronavirus infection in the country. Of these, 4,12,537 people have recovered or discharged. At the same time, there are 7,52,393 active cases in the country. Apart from this, 28,770 people have died tragically in the country so far from this epidemic. Maharashtra has the highest number of cases of coronavirus infection reported at 3,27,031. In Maharashtra, 12,276 people have died due to this deadly virus.
