Women Helpdesk to be Setup Soon in Ten Thousand Police Stations across Country

Indian Government has announced to set up women's help desk in ten thousand police stations across the country for immediate hearing and action of crimes against women and children. For this, the central government will provide assistance of Rs.1 lakh per police station. The Rajasthan government has also received this letter from the Center and now the Rajasthan government is preparing a list of police stations where this desk can be established. The central government has implemented this scheme under the Nirbhaya Fund. In this regard, guidelines have been sent to all the states related to women's help desk. It has been said that priority should be given to those police stations where crimes related to women and children are being recorded in large numbers.

It has also been said that a woman officer of the rank of Assistant Police Inspector in the police station should be made in charge of this desk. Along with the desk, lawyers, experts, and NGOs should be connected, who can provide immediate relief, legal aid, and rehabilitation facilities and other assistance to the women who come for assistance. Along with this, a Nodal Officer will also have to be appointed in every district, who will monitor and coordinate the work of women aid desks established in that district. The purpose of the desk is that the women coming to the police station should not have any hesitation and they can be heard immediately. Adequate training will also be given to all police personnel attached to the desk for this work.

This desk will register the case of the victim woman and send it to the concerned authorities and follow it up completely. A separate arrangement will be made at the police station for this desk. It will have two computers, two-wheelers, phones, and other facilities. Assistance will be provided by the Central Government Rs. 1 lakh per police station for raising these facilities.
