Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan has written a social media post. In this, he has shared screenshots of a WhatsApp chat. If these screenshots are correct, then Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami may face more difficulties and the fake TRP scam may face a new twist.
In fact, the screenshots of Prashant Bhushan’s WhatsApp chat on Friday were viral on social media. One of these names appears to be Arnab, while the other name is claimed to be Partho Dasgupta. Dasgupta was the CEO of Broadcast Audience Research Council ie BARC from 2013 to 2019. He has been arrested in the fake TRP scam. BARC is an organization that tells about which channels are being watched every week through TV bar-o-meters in 45 thousand households in the country.
Conversation between Arnab and Dasgupta took place in 2019:
It is being claimed in social media posts that this conversation between Arnab and Dasgupta took place in 2019. It is being described as part of a 500-page WhatsApp chat with the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police. However, the Mumbai Police have not confirmed these screenshots so far.

What are the screenshots of chat telling
In March 2019 WhatsApp chat, a person from Arnab is asking that they try for help through PMO. Arnab is saying on this – noted and will happen. Further he is writing that on Thursday he can meet the Prime Minister.
According to a screenshot of April 2019, the person interacting with Arnab is asking whether they can ask AS to pressurize the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI? (It is not clear who AS is here).
Arnab is also saying that can you tell me in three points how the action of TRAI can go against the AS politically. In a chat in July 2019, Arnab wrote- ‘Please see how week after week is affecting me. Can’t get any relief. Now we are going to review the brake strategy. ‘
To this, the person named PDGA (assuming it is Partho Dasgupta) responds, “Arnab, my hands are tied until the government helps.” In the August 2019 chat, Arnab is saying that he will meet Javadekar (Union Minister for Information Broadcasting) in Mumbai tomorrow. On this, PDGA tells the minister to be useless. At the same time, Goswami writes that PMO is being viewed differently in further conversation. In the September 2019 chat, Arnab is saying, ‘I said that NM (it is being described as Nripendra Mishra, who was the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister) is going to go from PMO.’ In the October 2019 chat, a person named PDGA is asking Arnab, ‘What the hell is going on, do you know?’ In response, Arnab is writing, ‘Points related to this he shared yesterday.’
Arnab is again asked the question ‘Who has got shares, from the PMO or from the minister?’ In response, he writes – from PMO.
1400 page charge sheet
The case relates to the Fake TRP scam, which was revealed last year. It was revealed that some channels are manipulating TRP to earn more revenue through advertising. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police has submitted a 1400-page charge sheet in the magistrate court. It has names of 12 accused, including those associated with Republic TV. In the same case, in a hearing held in the Bombay High Court on 6 January, the Mumbai Police claimed that it had found some evidence against Republic TV and its editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami.
