You must be using social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Which celebrities do you follow there? All types of names will appear in your list except India's billionaires. This is because most of the rich in the country do not use social media at all. It also includes India's richest Mukesh Ambani, who is credited with bringing the internet revolution to the country.

In 2019, London-based ECCO International conducted a study on the top-30 companies from 21 countries. According to the report, only one in five Indian CEOs is present on LinkedIn and Twitter. The CEO of France is the most active on social media. Denmark is on the second, Australia third, and the Netherlands fourth. America's CEO is at number five on this list.

We have done an analysis of the presence on social media of the top-30 rich people of the country. It found that 25 people in the top-30 do not have accounts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Uday Kotak is active only on Twitter. Gautam Adani is present on both Twitter and Instagram. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and Savitri Jindal have accounts on Twitter and Facebook, but not on Instagram.

Do they intentionally distance themselves from social media?

Chhavi Dang, the founder of communication company Comm Sutra, says, "Billionaires spend most of their time running their businesses. Other celebrities want popularity, so they keep sharing their personal life and random thoughts. What billionaires write and say in public has an impact on their business.

Take the example of Mukesh Ambani, the head of Reliance. Due to not being on social media, he avoids facing many criticisms directly. They understand very well that social media can build a brand and it can also destroy it.
