The family members of Champat Rai, secretary of Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, have lodged an FIR against journalist Vineet Narayan, RSS worker Alka Lahoti and Vineet Narayan's aide Rajneesh. An FIR has been registered against these people for disturbing religious harmony, forgery, and under 16 other harsh sections.

Champat Rai is also a senior leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). An FIR was registered on the complaint of his younger brother Sanjay Bansal at 5 pm on 19th June. It alleged that Sanjay Bansal was deeply sorry to read senior journalist Vineet Narayan's Facebook post dated June 17, in which "conspiracy was written with falsehoods and unconscionable things".

Sanjay Bansal claims that this post has "deeply hurt the respect of crores of people of Hindu society and there is a strong possibility of such a post causing unrest in the society." An FIR was lodged on the Tahrir of Champat Rai's brother Sanjay Bansal, but his other brother Sunil Bansal spoke to the media in Bijnor and called this social media post a conspiracy.

Sunil Bansal said, "This which has gone viral on social media is a conspiracy to defame and remark against Champat Rai Ji. Others who are accused of donating to the trust of the Ram temple, these people are taking out enmity by eating chives. Champat Rai Ji's life is completely dedicated. It has been 41 years since he left home since 1980 and he is unmarried."

What was the allegation in the Facebook post?

On June 17, Vineet Narayan wrote a post on Facebook while addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and RSS Sarsangh Chalak Mohan Bhagwat. According to him, he had a conversation with RSS worker Alka Lahoti, in which Lahoti told him that 20,000 square meters of land of Shri Krishna Gaushala established by his father in Nagina (Bijnor) has been occupied for many years.

Quoting from this conversation, in the post Vineet Narayan accused Champat Rai in his home town Nagina (Bijnor) of 20 thousand square-meter (1.050 ha) land of Shri Krishna Gaushala by 'his brothers' taking possession of it. Accused of building a college and getting it recognized by Rohilkhand University. In his post, Vineet Narayan had told the price of this 20 thousand square-meter land to be around Rs 50 crore.

When the media tried to contact Champat Rai, he simply said, "I am not going to comment on these things. Absolutely not! I am not interested in these issues."

Bijnor police action and Investigation

SP Bijnor Dr. Dharamvir Singh says that investigation and investigation are going on but "the allegations which have been made through the accused, all the allegations in Bijnor and Nagina districts are baseless and the allegations against their families are prima facie baseless." The entire facts are being discussed, the investigation is being done under the supervision of the gazetted officer."

On the action of the police, Vineet Narayan says, "This is a direct threat and an attempt to intimidate. Secondly, the SSP has given a statement on TV in 24 hours that prima facie it has been found that there is no basis for our allegations. .And these are made out of wrong sentiments. In 24 hours they have also checked the revenue records, they have also checked the university file, there is such an efficient administration!"

Why is Champat Rai in the news?

Champat Rai is the secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Sthal Trust. Recently, the trust has been surrounded by allegations of a scam in land deals for the construction of the temple.

The opposition is trying to corner Rai in two land purchase deals in which he is alleged to have bought lands for 26 crores more than the donation money. Champat Rai has signed the agreement of both these lands and the Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party are demanding CBI and ED probe into these deals.

Many prominent sages and saints of Ayodhya are also demanding the removal of Champat Rai and a fair investigation. In such an environment, journalist Vineet Narayan's social media linking Champat Rai to a land dispute in his home district Bijnor and the Bijnor Police's FIR has brought Champat Rai into the limelight once again.
