Mahindra Scorpio's new model has been in discussion for a long time. The new-generation Scorpio has been seen many times during testing in the country. There will be major changes in the look of the new Scorpio compared to the current model. It will also have a new interior and new engine options. It was expected that Mahindra would present it at the Auto Expo held in February this year, but it has not happened. For the new Scorpio, we still have to wait until next year.

Launching Dates

The new-generation Scorpio is codenamed Z101. Reports say that the new Mahindra Scorpio will be launched in the second quarter of 2021 (between April-June). Prior to this, Mahindra will launch two other new SUVs, including the New-Generation Thar and the New-Generation XUV500. The new Thar is scheduled to be launched in October this year and the new XUV500 in the first quarter of next year.

New Engine Option

The new-generation Scorpio will get a new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which generates around 160bhp power and 350Nm torque. This engine will also be given in the new Thar and new XUV500. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be available. The petrol model of the SUV will get a new 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine, which generates 190bhp power and 380Nm torque. With this engine, there will be a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox option.

The new Mahindra Scorpio will be based on the modified version of the body-on-ladder frame (ZEN3 platform). This platform will also be used in New Thar. Leaked pictures taken during testing have revealed that the new Scorpio will be longer in length and width than the current model. It will get front-facing seats in the third line.
