The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is set to end the services of women's wrestler coach Andrew Cook as he refused to participate in the online session of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) if the salary was not paid. However, the American coach denied this. Cook left for Seattle when a national camp for women wrestlers in Lucknow was suspended in March due to the Coronavirus epidemic.
Cook left for America on March 17:
According to WFI, Cook was recently approached by SAI officials to participate in a session like e-Pathshala, but he reportedly said he would not participate until he got his pending salary. When he left for America on March 17, he said that SAI had withheld half his salary.
Cook only work for salary: WFI Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar
WFI Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar said, 'This behavior is not acceptable. This shows that Cook only works for salaries and is not obsessed with Indian wrestling. SAI officials showed us screenshots of their denial messages. We then asked Cook to attend the session and also assured him that he would get his salary. He attended a few sessions, but we did not like his behavior.
He also said, 'We discussed it among ourselves and also asked our wrestlers if they really needed him. The wrestlers told us that he is not so much needed, so we decided to end his services with immediate effect. We will send him a letter. '
