The BJP party has fielded Priyanka Tibrewal as its candidate for the Bhowanipore assembly seat in West Bengal. Priyanka Tibrewal is the wife of Mandrela resident and Kolkata resident CA Aditya Tibrewal and is currently the state vice-president of BJP Yuva Morcha. She will give competition to West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamta Banerjee in this election,
Mamata Banerjee lost the election from Nandigram in the general elections held in West Bengal this year. However, to remain CM, she has to become a member of the Legislative Assembly. For which he is contesting from her Bhowanipore seat. The seat for her has been vacated by MLA Sovendev Chattopadhyay.

Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh has been appointed as observer for the Bhawanipur seat. Along with Arjun Singh, MP Saumitra Khan and Jyotirmoy Singh have been made co-observers. Bhowanipore assembly seat comes in Kolkata South district.
