Former India opener and domestic cricketer Wasim Jaffer believes that Vijay Hazare, Duleep and Deodhar Trophy should be canceled this season in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jaffer wants to ensure that the players get enough time to rest and are not in a hurry for various tournaments.

Let us tell you that the domestic season is expected to start in August, but coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in the country. As such, the BCCI has adopted a policy of waiting for the activities to resume. Jaffer said, "Whenever the session starts, the first priority will be to organize the IPL. The BCCI (Indian Cricket Board) may debut with the IPL as the first tournament."

The BCCI is considering plans to host the IPL in September-October, but it will depend on the future of the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. "After the IPL is over, the BCCI can organize the Irani Trophy (Cup) as Saurashtra become the champions for the first time and they are entitled to play it," he said.

Jaffer said, "After that, we can start the Ranji Trophy. BCCI should cancel Vijay Hazare, Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy this season and focus on both the major tournaments (Ranji and IPL) so that the players get enough chance to rest."

He made this argument about tournaments so that players should get full opportunity to prepare and rest. Jaffer said, "Instead of hurrying all the tournaments, players should get a chance to relax."
