Germany's auto-maker Volkswagen will merge 3 Indian companies in the coming days. According to information given by Volkswagen Group, the three Indian subsidiaries of the company – Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt Ltd and the Board of Directors of Skoda Auto India Pvt Ltd have approved the proposed merger. However, the proposed merger has not yet received regulatory and legislative approvals.

The Volkswagen Group said that the merger will be lead by Skoda Auto. All the brands will be working under the leadership of the current managing director, Gurpratap S. Boparai, of Volkswagen India Private Limited and Skoda Auto India Pvt. Ltd.

Boparai said, "India is a major and attractive growth market for the Volkswagen Group. By combining the technical and managerial competencies of the three companies from the proposed merger, we want to take advantage of the company's original prospects in the competitive vehicle market of the country." The important thing is that the brands of Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini Identity, dealer network and consumer experience will continue to be mounted.

In the last month, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed a fine of 500 crores on Volkswagen. Actually, the company is accused of trying to mislead the use of 'cheat device' to hide emissions in diesel cars within the country and damage the environment. The authority ordered the company to deposit the amount within two months    .

The bench headed by NGT chairman Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel ordered this. NGT was hearing a petition of a teacher and some others. In these petitions, there was a demand for a ban on Volkswagen.
