Virat Kohli will step down as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore after the current IPL season. He has already announced that he will step down as the captain of the Indian team after the T20 World Cup starting next month.
Virat said in his message – This will be my last IPL as the captain of RCB. I will remain a player of RCB till I play my last IPL match. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me.
While announcing his resignation from the captaincy of the Indian T20 team, Virat had said that he would continue to lead the Test and ODI team. Virat now wants to focus more on batting. His batting form has weakened in the last two years. He has not been able to score any international century in a long time.
Virat Kohli is the captain of RCB since the 2013 season. Under his leadership, the team definitely reached the finals but could not win a single title. Virat has led the team in 132 matches so far in the IPL. Out of these, RCB won 60. Lost in 65 matches. 3 matches were tied and 4 matches ended with no result.
Virat Kohli has so far scored 6076 runs in 199 matches for RCB. As captain, he has scored 4674 runs in 132 matches at an average of 43.27. His strike rate as captain has been 134.11. He has scored 5 centuries in IPL. All centuries have been scored while being captain.
