Indian Captain Virat Kohli held a press conference in Indore on Wednesday, a day before the series began. India beat Bangladesh by 2–1 in the T20 series, in which Virat was rested and Rohit took over as captain in Team India in his place. Virat said, 'Even though we won the series in T20, but the Bangladesh bowlers are doing much better and they cannot be taken lightly. Any team can do better.  He said, "To keep Test cricket on top, it is my idea that there should be 5 Test centers." Kohli recently said that there should be at least five Test centers in the country to motivate people to come to the stadium and watch the test matches.

Kohli said, 'I think that the kind of trust, confidence in ourselves and mutual understanding between the players, on the basis of that, Team India is continuously doing better. That is why when a player plays on the field, it is in his mind that his performance will benefit the team.

Virat said, 'The kind of great bowling Umesh bowled in the last few matches, Mohammed Shami is also performing awesome. Jasprit is not fit right now, Ishant has been performing well for the last two years.  After Indore, the last match of the two-Test series is to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, which will be in the day-night format. For the first time India is hosting a day-night Test match and it will be played with pink ball. Virat said, 'Pink ball can be a bit difficult to play. This is the first match and still needs some time.'
