Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has taken a deep dig at the activism of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Thackeray said, "From the current situation, it seems that the drugs of the whole world are present only in Maharashtra. Four days ago, Mumbai and Maharashtra police caught heroin worth Rs 25 crore, but there was no discussion on it. Because they caught 'heroin', not 'heroine'.
The CM further said Maharashtra Police has a reputation all over the country. Therefore, an attempt is being made to defame Maharashtra Police. But we should be proud of our Mumbai and Maharashtra Police. He told Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil, I think the police should be honoured for seizing heroin.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the country's first wildlife and human DNA testing lab set up by the State Home Department at the Regional Justice Assistant Scientific Laboratory at Rahat Colony in Nagpur. In the same program, he said that this lab will speed up the process of providing the necessary evidence to further strengthen the law, solve crimes and bring stringent punishment to criminals. State Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, Energy Minister Nitin Raut, Animal Promotion Minister Sunil Kedar were also present in the program.
CM further said that the benefit of becoming a fast track DNA unit and wildlife DNA lab will be given to those victims whose cases are very serious. Especially, the work of disclosing crimes like rape against women and getting the culprits punished soon will be speeded up.
At the same time, the police will present their side with strong evidence in the court, on the basis of which the judge will also be able to give his decision soon. This lab will also prove to be a boon for those who are falsely accused of rape. If the truth is revealed sooner than the DNA test, they will be freed from the charges. Earlier it was not possible.
Nagpur's Guardian Minister Nitin Raut said that the start of the DNA unit will save the time of the police in investigating the crime. There will also be accurate in the test. He said that the priority of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government is women's safety and for this Shakti Bill will be brought.
Sunil Kedar said that a state-of-the-art facility has been made available in Nagpur with the start of the DNA analysis department. The fast track DNA unit will definitely benefit the police and forest department in the investigation.
