India's star boxer MC Mary Kom has been knocked out after losing against Ingrit Valencia in the Tokyo Olympics. In the pre-quarterfinals of the 51 kg weight category, Mary Kom was defeated by Victoria Ingrit Valencia of Colombia. In the first round, 4 out of 5 judges ruled in favor of Valencia. At the same time, in the second round, three judges considered Mary Kom to be better. Valencio was declared the winner 3–2 after the third round. Valencia is the bronze medalist of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Mary Kom had earlier defeated Valencia twice. But, this time the 38-year-old Indian boxer could not win over the 32-year-old Colombian boxer despite presenting a tough challenge. On the other hand, Indian players have performed brilliantly on Thursday. Badminton star PV Sindhu has reached the quarterfinals of women's singles. On the other hand, the hockey team defeated Argentina 3-1. In archery, Atanu Das has reached the pre-quarterfinals of men's singles by defeating two-time Olympic gold medalist.

Indian hockey team defeated Argentina in Pool A:

At the same time, in men's hockey, the Indian team defeated Argentina 3-1 in the Pool A match to secure a place in the last-8. After defeating Rio Olympics gold medalist team Argentina in hockey, India have 9 points in Pool A and are in second place. India's last pool match will take place on Friday against Japan. The Indian team has been decided to be in the top-4 in their pool. For India, Varun Kumar in the third quarter and Vivek Sagar Prasad and Harmanpreet Singh scored in the fourth quarter.

Shooter Manu Bhaker performed brilliantly:

Meanwhile, the first qualifying round (precision round) of 25m air pistol in women's shooting took place on Thursday. Indian shooter Manu Bhaker has performed well in this and secured the fifth position. Manu scored 292 marks out of 300. The second qualifying round (rapid round) will take place on Friday. Top-8 shooters will get a place in the final by combining both the qualifying rounds. Another Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat finished 25th with 287 points in the precision round.
