The Indian men's hockey team suffered a heartbreaking loss against Belgium in the semi-final as they lost 2-5 on Tuesday at Tokyo Olympics. India will now play in the bronze medal against either Australia or Germany. The men's hockey team made it into the semi-finals at the Games after a gap of 49 years. India ended the first half well as they fought back to take 2-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of the contest.
India's hockey team played its semi-final match in Tokyo Olympics today. India was facing the legendary Belgium team. India lost 2-5 in this match. However, India still has a chance to win the bronze medal, but the team has been out of the race for silver and gold medals.
In the first quarter of this big match, India took a 2-1 lead. Mandeep Singh and Harmanpreet Singh scored for India in the first quarter. In the third quarter of the match, there was a tough competition from both the teams, but neither team was successful in scoring. Although, both teams had a chance to score through penalty corners. The match was tied at 2-2 after the third quarter.
The match in the fourth quarter continued and in about the fourth minute, Belgium scored from a penalty corner to take 3-2 lead. Alexander Hendrick scored the third goal of the match from a penalty corner to extend Belgium's lead over India to 4-2. Belgium made another goal in the last minutes to reduce the winning margin to 5-2.
