The Winter session of Parliament will begin from November 18 and continue till December 13. The Government has informed the Secretariats of both the Houses. A number of bills are likely to be taken up during the winter session. Further, two crucial ordinances are on the list to be converted into law during the session.
During this session, the Government will try to pass many important bills while the opposition will try to surround the Government on issues including economic slowdown, topics related to Jammu and Kashmir.
The government is working on a plan to legislate two important ordinances with the introduction of several bills in the coming session. One of these ordinances was issued in September to amend the Income Tax Act 1961 and the Finance Act, 2019. The second ordinance was also promulgated in September which deals with the ban on the sale, manufacture and storage of e-cigarettes and similar devices.The winter session in the last two years began on 21 November and lasted until the first week of January.
