The Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict on Tuesday on a petition seeking to question Devendra Fadnavis' appointment as Chief Minister in Maharashtra and order him to prove his majority in the House within 24 hours. Shiv Sena, NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) and Congress have submitted this demand to the court by filing a joint petition.

On Monday, both the letters claiming to be Devendra Fadnavis's government and the Governor's invitation inviting him to form the government were presented in the court on Monday. After seeing the letter and hearing the arguments of both sides, the court reserved the decision till Tuesday.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Governor's Secretariat on Monday, presented letters inviting and claiming the formation of the government and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis before the bench of Justices NV Ramana, Ashok Bhushan and Sanjeev Khanna. Mehta said that the Governor, after being satisfied with his discretion, invited Devendra Fadnavis to form the government.

He said that from 24 October to 9 November when no one claimed to form the government. The Governor then invited the largest party BJP to form the government on 9 November, but the BJP expressed its inability. After this, Shiv Sena was invited on November 10 and NCP on November 11, but they also expressed their inability when the state came under President's rule on November 12. Then on November 22, Fadnavis claimed to form the government on behalf of the BJP.He gave a letter of support to 105 BJP MLAs, 54 NCP and 11 independents and a total of 170 MLAs. Apart from him, Ajit Pawar gave a letter in which he described himself as the leader of the NCP Legislature Party and said that his party supports the government of Devendra Fadnavis.

He said that the court cannot order the speaker. There can also be no judicial review of the proceedings of the House. Tusshar Mehta also demanded time from the court for an answer.

During the hearing, senior advocate Maninder Singh, appearing for Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, said that he is the leader of the legislative party of NCP and he is the NCP. He had authority and supported the government. And when everything is correct, the court should stop hearing the case.
