Indian players ended their campaign at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) with a record 312 medals, with 174 gold, 93 silver and 45 bronze medals on Tuesday. India had won a total of 309 medals including 189 golds in previous games in Guwahati and Shillong (2016). This time however, the number of gold medals is 15 less than the previous time. Host Nepal finished second with 206 medals and Sri Lanka was at third with 251 medals. India has always topped the medal table of these games, which began in 1984.

The Indian boxers, led by Vikas Krishna (69kg) and Pinki Rani (51kg), won six more gold medals on the final day, helping India win 16 medals in the event. On the final day, India won 18 medals including 15 gold, 02 silver and 01 bronze. Sparsh Kumar (52 kg), Narender (plus 91 kg), Sonia Lather (57 kg) and Poshat Bamboria (64 kg) also won gold medals. Vikas beat Pakistan's Gul Jab 5-0, Narendra defeated Nepal's Ashish Duwadi 5-0 and Sparsh defeated Pakistan's Syed Mohammad Asif 4-1. Varinder Singh (60 kg) had to settle for a silver after losing 2-3 to Sanil Shahi of Nepal. Among the women, Sonia defeated Sri Lanka's Chrismi Aioma Dulang 5-0, while Pinky defeated Nepal's Rai Bhoomi 3-2 and Paridhan also defeated Poonam Rawal of Nepal by a similar margin. Men's and women's teams won gold medals in basketball. The men won the title by defeating Sri Lanka 10162, beating the hosts Nepal 12746.
