Sharmistha Mukherjee and Anshul Kumar Appointed National Spokesperson in Congress

Congress has appointed Sharmishtha Mukherjee, daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee and Anshul Kumar, son of former Lok Sabha Speaker, as national spokesperson.

Congress has given great responsibility to Sharmistha Mukherjee, daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee and Anshul Kumar, son of former Lok Sabha Speaker. The party of both has made a national spokesperson. The interim president of Congress Sonia Gandhi has approved the appointment of Sharmistha and Anshul. Sharmistha Mukherjee was the spokesperson of the Delhi Congress earlier.

Issuing a press note, Congress Communications Department in-charge Randeep Surjewala said, 'Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the appointment of Mr. Anshul Meera Kumar and Ms. Sharmishtha Mukherjee as national spokespersons of the All India Congress Committee. '

Sharmistha Mukherjee thanked Sonia Gandhi and Randeep Surjewala and  wrote in her tweet, 'I thank Sonia Gandhi and Randeep Surjewala ji for making me the national spokesperson. Congratulations on the appointment of Anshul Meera Kumar as national spokesperson. " The appointments took place almost a month after Sonia Gandhi took over as the interim president of the Congress.

After facing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, several party spokespersons resigned from their posts. After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the party had even announced that it would not send any representative for the televised debate. Earlier, during the election, Priyanka Chaudhary resigned from this post.
