To attend the meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the SCO Liaison Group on Afghanistan, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has reached Dushanbe in Tajikistan. According to the news agency, Jaishankar can hold a meeting with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi today.
During this, talks can be held between the two leaders regarding the ongoing tension on the India-China border. Apart from this, the security situation in Afghanistan will also be discussed. According to sources, S Jaishankar can insist on finding a solution to the ongoing dispute over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh in this meeting.
Amidst the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban have captured many areas, there have also been reports of a confrontation between the Afghan army and the Taliban from many places. Meanwhile, in Dushanbe, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Tuesday. Political, security and peace processes were discussed between the two.
The meeting took place at a time when the Taliban is rapidly taking control of most areas of Afghanistan. The whole world is taking the matter seriously at this time. India had withdrawn around 50 diplomats and security personnel from its consulate in Kandahar in the wake of the war between the Afghan forces and the Taliban.
