Thousands of people lost their lives in the Corona epidemic in the country last year. There are many families in which more than one member died. The tragedy of the year 2020 and this year has changed the thinking of the people. The ancestral properties, which used to be divided or transferred after the eldest head of the family was gone, are now alive. This is the reason that in the last two years, a large number of documents for getting gift deed and will (testament) have come to be registered in the registry department.

According to experts, there has been an increase in the cases of gift deeds and wills since the beginning of the corona period. If we look at the report received from the Department of Stamps and Registration. So far this year from April to October, more than 10,770 documents will have been registered. Whereas in the year 2020, the total wills were around 10 thousand. At the same time, about 42 thousand cases of property transfer in blood relations have come in the last 7 months. Whereas in the last year 2020, these cases were close to 37 thousand.

Grandparents transferring properties to grandchildren

In Rajasthan this year a large number of properties of grandparents have been transferred in the name of grandchildren. From April to October this year, there have been about 6900 such cases in the entire state. In which ancestral properties have been transferred in the name of grandchildren or maternal grandchildren. There were very few cases of transferring the properties of grandparents in the name of grandchildren.

The changes happened

Experts related to the law say that the reason behind a large number of gift deeds, testaments, is the fear of people's untimely death in the epidemic. According to experts, there are many families in which only small children remained after the parents or grandparents left. Apart from this, many people had no heir and they too went into this epidemic. There is an ongoing dispute regarding the ownership of their properties.

In view of such incidents, people have divided their properties or got their will done from now on. So that after his departure, there is no dispute regarding the properties. Apart from this, experts are also accepting another reason for this, the exemption given by the government. The Ashok Gehlot government of the state has given exemption in stamp duty on gift deeds in favour of grandchildren and maternal grandchildren.
