Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met all the players participating in the Tokyo Olympics at his residence. The Prime Minister was seen felicitating the athletes for their excellent performance. PM Modi also did a breakfast with everyone before honouring the players. Along with this, he also kept his promise to eat ice cream with Bronze medal winner PV Sindhu.

PM Modi kept his promise like this

When the players left for the Olympics, Modi had promised PV Sindhu that when you return to India, I will join you for ice cream. Today he kept his promise and ate butter-scotch ice cream with Sindhu.

Along with this, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur also told Neeraj Chopra that when he returns home, PM Modi will feed him churma. PM Modi fulfilled both the promises.

Players were respected with thunderous applause

Yesterday, after hoisting the flag at the Red Fort on the occasion of 15th August, Narendra Modi had said about the players participating in Tokyo 2020 – Specially we can be proud of the athletes that they not only won hearts but also done a great job of inspiring the generations to come. The PM also went among the players to meet them. During this, full care was taken of the corona protocol.

This time Highest Numbers of Players went to Tokyo

This time India's team of 228 members was sent to the Tokyo Olympics. There were 67 male and 52 female participants including 119 players. It was also the largest contingent of India ever sent to the Olympics.

7 medals in India's bag

Indian athletes performed brilliantly in Tokyo Olympics. This time India was successful in winning a total of 7 medals including one gold. India won one Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals to their name. Neeraj Chopra won the country's only gold in athletics.
