PMLA Court sends Anil Deshmukh to ED Custody till November 6

The troubles of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh are increasing. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Anil Deshmukh late last night in the 100 crore recovery case. Special PMLA court has sent Deshmukh to ED custody till November 6. He had suddenly reached the Enforcement Directorate office at 11:55 am on Monday after going missing for several days. Anil Deshmukh was summoned for questioning five times by the ED, but he was missing on the pretext of illness and longevity. Every time his lawyer Inderpal Singh used to reach the office. He argued that Deshmukh is 75 years old and he cannot appear due to the increasing cases of corona in Maharashtra. Deshmukh, who reached the ED office on November 1, was arrested by the ED after 13 hours of interrogation.

Anil Deshmukh has been caught in many controversies

The ED said that Deshmukh was not being given a satisfactory answer to any question, so he was arrested. He will be produced in court for custody on Tuesday. Anil Deshmukh has a long association with controversies. Apart from corruption, he is also accused in the case of possessing disproportionate assets and misusing his office as Home Minister.

CBI has got many clues

About two months ago, on September 17, 2021, some places of Anil Deshmukh were raided in Mumbai and Nagpur. As soon as the investigation of the 100 crore recovery case came in hand, different teams of CBI raided several places including Anil Deshmukh's residence and offices and colleges in Mumbai and Nagpur. In this, important clues were found in the hands of the Nagpur team. CBI has taken action against Deshmukh several times.

ED had already sent tax

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also sent summons against Deshmukh several times in the recovery case of 100 crores, but Deshmukh was not appearing before the ED. ED issued a lookout notice against Anil Deshmukh yet he was not appearing. On November 1, suddenly he reached the ED office. After 13 hours of interrogation, the ED arrested him after he did not get a satisfactory reply.

Income Tax Department has also tightened the screws

The Income Tax Department also took action against Anil Deshmukh in the money laundering case. IT teams raided several locations including residences and colleges in Nagpur and Mumbai. Along with this, the Income Tax Department had also raided the houses of his close and relatives.

These are the allegations against Anil Deshmukh

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray about two and a half months ago, alleged that Anil Deshmukh had given a target of recovery of Rs 100 crore every month to suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vajhe. Although Anil Deshmukh had denied the allegations, Deshmukh had to resign from the post after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI inquiry.
