The Karachi-born Australian citizen has not been allowed to visit Goa due to lack of security clearance from the Union Home Ministry. According to the information, he was supposed to join the 'Know Goa Program'. The State Commission for NRI Affairs gave this information on Thursday. Those who are born abroad or are foreign nationals and their parents or ancestors are of Goa origin.

NRI Affairs Director Anthony D'Souza said 21-year-old Marco Montero, born in Pakistan, is one of the eight students who were barred from participating in the 12th 'No Goa Program' organized by the Commission. The Union Home Ministry has not yet given security clearance to Marco for his visit to India. Ministry has been very sensitive about national security
