Mamata Banerjee came down the road against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens. A procession was taken out in the metropolis by the Trinamool Congress led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Civil Register. Trinamool activists gathered near the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Photographs of fiery protests from various parts of the state came to light on Sunday for the third consecutive day despite Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appealing for a peaceful protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Trains were stopped at various places in various districts, arson on rail tracks and roads. To review the situation, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called a meeting late Sunday evening in the presence of top officials at her residence, clearly stating that violent demonstrations would not be tolerated and the police administration would have to deal strictly with it.

Several top officials, including the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police, were present in the meeting. The Chief Minister said that under the guise of communal powers, some people are trying to disturb the state and such violent protests and damage to government properties will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that the protest should be peaceful. Mamta Banerjee directed the Superintendents of Police of various districts to stop the violent protests in this manner and said that the fire of protest in one district after another would have to be contained soon.

Due to opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act, the railways have lost more than Rs 100 crore in the last two days due to sabotage and arson at various stations of the entire Railway and Eastern Railway. According to railway sources, on Friday and Saturday, South Eastern Railway alone suffered a loss of Rs 15,77,33,779 crore due to sabotage and arson and incidents of incidents in Uluberia, Baudiya, Sankrail, Nalpur stations.

On the other hand, the loss of more than 85 crores has been estimated due to incidents of sabotage, arson at other stations and trains of Eastern Railway including Beldanga, Sujanipada, Krishnapur, Lalgola. The loss of more than hundred crores in the last two days has been reported to the entire Railway and Eastern Railway.
