Mamata Banerjee Hits Out at PM Modi

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has criticized BJP leaders for allegedly calling protesters opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as anti-national, and said that the recent firing outside Delhi's Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Millia Islamia was an attempt to terrorize the protestors.  Mamta said that more than 30 people have died in West Bengal due to the fear of the proposed nationwide NRC. She said, 'NPR, NRC, and CAA are like black magic. Will you (BJP) expel me from the country because I do not have my mother's birth certificate. We (Trinamool) are not a misguided party like the BJP.'

Mamata said that unlike the Prime Minister "who call himself a chowkidar only during elections", she takes care of the people throughout the year and listens to their problems. Addressing a rally in Bongaon, Banerjee said, "I do not belong to a group that spreads hatred among people."

She said, because of the instigation of BJP leaders, there was a firing incident outside Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Millia. Efforts are being made to terrorize the people. Expressing support for the Shaheen Bagh protesters, the TMC chief said some parties were trying to propagate the issue of the citizenship Amendment Act.
