Army Chief Bipin Rawat has recently confirmed that a Major General is being court martialed. This decision has been taken because the name of Major General is related to a sexual harassment case. Currently more information related to the case is awaited.
Last year too, a senior Indian Army officer was court martialed after being found accused of sexual abuse. The sexual abuse case was 2 years old. The Major General whose court martial was done.
He played an important role in many important operations of the army. The accused officer was convicted under Section 354A and Army Act 45 of the IPC.
A complaint was lodged against the Major General by a female officer. The woman officer had said that two years ago Major General Jaswal called her to her room in Kohima and molested her. After this, the army took action and formed an inquiry committee against the accused Major General and then decided to court martial.
