Nepal's new Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday won a trust vote in the House of Representatives on Sunday. Deuba, the 75-year-old Congress chief, secured 165 votes in the 275-member House of Representatives. After that, the new Prime Minister of Nepal has given his first statement about India. He tweeted, "Thank you very much, Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji, for your congratulatory note. I look forward to closely working with you to strengthen the relationship between our two countries and people."

Earlier, PM Modi congratulated Deuba for being sworn in as Nepal's new Prime Minister. He tweeted, "Congratulations Prime Minister @DeubaSherbdr and best wishes for a successful tenure. I look forward to working with you to further enhance our unique partnership in all sectors, and strengthen our deep-rooted people-to-people ties."

Deuba sworn in as the Prime Minister on July 13:

Significantly, Sher Bahadur Deuba sworn in as the Prime Minister on July 13. A day earlier, a Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana of the Supreme Court ordered the restoration of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Parliament, held for the second time in five months on May 22 by then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

On the other hand, Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda", leader of the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre, said Oli was an "autocrat" and someone who failed to act as per the spirit of the peace process and the Constitution. He said, "I had told her that we are ready for physical verification, and was hoping that she would refer it to the House to formally elect him as the prime minister."
