India's legendary tennis player Leander Paes has hinted about his retirement on Monday. Leander Paes said he relied on his experience to win over rivals and did not want to play for more than a year. Paes was selected in India's Davis Cup squad for the match against Pakistan after several top players refused to go to Islamabad. Leander Paes, a 46-year-old tennis player, improved his record by winning the 44th doubles match at the Davis Cup. In this match, India defeated Pakistan 4–0. On this, Leander Paes said, "Now I win on the basis of my experience but I should not play more than a year." Paes also said that the main objective of Indian tennis should be to create a new and young team.

Olympic bronze medalist Leander Paes said, "I am 46 years old and I should be replaced by new generation now. So really it should be seen as objective. It is important to have a young team." Paes also said that I am not going to play for long. My journey in the Davis Cup for 30 years has been fantastic. I enjoyed my game while playing for my country. No matter the circumstances, I will be ready to play for the country whenever it need me.

Paes described the Davis Cup victory over Pakistan as special. He said that many things were being heard before the match but the important thing is that India won 4-0 in a neutral place in Kazakhstan, so this victory is special. Paes also praised Indian team's non-playing captain Rohit Rajpal and coach Zeeshan Ali for their victory over Pakistan. Paes, Zeeshan and Rajpal were attending a press conference after returning home.
