Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra Wins the First Gold Medal for India at Tokyo 2020

Indian champion Neeraj Chopra won the GOLD Medal with mamoth 87.58 meter throw in his second attempt. This is India’s first medal in ATHLETICS after a gap of 121 years.

Indian champion Neeraj Chopra won the GOLD Medal with mamoth 87.58 meter throw in his second attempt. This is India's first medal in ATHLETICS after a gap of 121 years. Neeraj threw 87.03 meters in the first attempt and 87.58 meters in the second attempt. He threw 76.79 meters in the third attempt, and fouls in the fourth, fifth attempt.

Gold medal for India after 13 years:

After 13 years in the Olympic Games, India has won a gold medal in an event. Earlier in 2008, Beijing Olympic shooter Abhinav Bindra won gold medal in the 10m air rifle event. This is India's 10th gold medal so far in the Olympic Games. India has earlier won 8 gold medals in hockey and 1 gold medal in shooting. In this way, this is also only the second individual gold medal of India.

India's most successful Olympic event:

It has become India's most successful Olympic event. India won 6 medals in London Olympics. India has won 7 medals in Tokyo Olympics. Apart from Neeraj's gold, Mirabai Chanu has won silver in weightlifting, PV Sindhu has won bronze in badminton and Lovlina Borgohain has won bronze in boxing. Apart from this, the Indian men's hockey team won bronze and in wrestling, Ravi Dahiya won the silver medal. On the other hand, Bajrang won the bronze medal on Saturday.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia wins Bronze Medal:

Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia defeated Kazakhstan's Daulet Niyazbekov to win the bronze medal in men's freestyle 65kg wrestling at Tokyo Olympics. With this, India has equaled the medal record of the most successful 2012 London Olympics. The Indian contingent won 6 medals in London.  Meanwhile, Punia's father said, 'He fulfilled my dream. This is gold medal for me. He told me that he will not come back empty handed.'
