If Nehru Ji allowed Patel to Handle Kashmir then the history would have been Different: Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Jitendra Singh has accused the Congress and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that if the then Prime Minister Pandit Nehru would allow Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to take over, the history of Jammu and Kashmir would have been very different today.

The Union Minister said that if Jawaharlal Nehru did not allow the then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to take charge of Jammu and Kashmir, as he had been allowed to handle other princely states. He said that if Sardar Patel had handled Jammu and Kashmir like Hadarajad, then today the history of the entire Indian subcontinent was different, not only Kashmir but today. Jitendra Singh said that Nehru did this because he felt that he knew Kashmir better than anyone else.

Emphasizing on Article 370 and 35A, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that people opposing the BJP's stand on Article 370 and 35A are ignoring the fact that it has been considered as a temporary provision in both the articles. He said that people forget that Nehru was of the opinion that this is a temporary provision.

Presidential rule in Jammu and Kashmir got approval for six months on Friday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that the government was ready to hold assembly elections in the state by the end of the year. Amit Shah attacked the Congress on issues related to partition, ceasefire, POK in the Lok Sabha. Shah held Jawaharlal Nehru responsible for giving Pakistan a share of Kashmir without believing in Sardar Patel
