Gold Smuggling at Jaipur Airport: 349 grams of Gold Recovered from a Passenger of Dubai
Custom has seized 349 grams of gold worth Rs 17.40 lakh from a passenger at Jaipur International Airport. Gold was brought to India from Dubai. The gold was cleverly hidden inside the coffee grinder machine and three magnetic bracelets. The passenger was stopped on suspicion at the airport. On search, the gold hidden inside the machine was recovered. Currently, the customs team is questioning him about gold smuggling. Gold has been recovered at the airport for the third time in the last 10 days.
Air India flight-IX-196 arrived from Dubai at Jaipur airport. Passengers got out of the flight and reached the airport for checking. After a normal checking, a passenger got suspicious by the customs officials. When the custom stopped the passenger for checking, he started hesitantly. After this, the whole item was checked by taking him inside. He had a coffee grinder machine and three magnetic bracelets. The customs team also checked these. Instead of copper wires inside the machines, gold was hidden. The weight of gold came out to be around 349.810 grams. Its price was Rs 17.40 lakh. Custom officials are interrogating him for smuggling gold.
The young man had to give gold outside the airport
The young man told the customs officials that he was given these goods to carry in Dubai itself. After this, he was told that the young man would be found outside at the Jaipur airport itself. Give this stuff to him. When the customs team reached outside the airport to investigate, they did not find anyone. After this, the investigation has started by confiscating the gold.
Gold recovered for the third time in 10 days
Gold smuggling is increasing continuously in Jaipur. Five days back also, gold worth Rs 68 lakh was recovered at Jaipur airport. 1399.60 grams of gold was found from a young man who came from Dubai. It was also brought hidden in the mixer grinder. Apart from this, gold worth Rs 19 lakh was also seized on 7th July. In the Air Arabia flight from Shahjahan, he had brought 408 grams of gold in a vacuum cleaner and electric burner.
